Brain Injury Relearning Services (BIRS) was established as the Head Injury Program (HIP) in September of 1992. BIRS is designed to improve the quality of life for individuals who have sustained a brain injury by rehabilitating, supporting, and facilitating reintegration into the community. It is operated under the authority of REDI Enterprises Society - a non-profit, charitable society.
Referrals
Referrals for service can be made through another agency, physician, other health professionals, family members or self.
Objectives:
To offer rehabilitation services designed specifically for the needs of the individual. Brain Injury Relearning Services encompasses the following areas:
- Rehabilitation of physical skills to include balance, coordination, and functional skills.
- Rehabilitation of cognitive skills to include memory, problem solving, communication, and daily living activities.
- Rehabilitation in orientation, concentration, reasoning, word finding, and auditory comprehension.
- To promote self-help, self-esteem, self-awareness, social interaction and quality of life.
- To provide encouragement and support for individuals and their families.
- To support individuals in activities in the Community.

BIRS utilizes volunteers to enhance our existing services as well as for special events. If you are interested in volunteering please call 528-2661 or visit our facility and fill out an application form.
